Frequently Asked Questions

Is higher strength floor screed right for me?

If you’re looking to strengthen or level an uneven floor in a building that receives a substantial amount of foot traffic, our higher strength floor screed could be perfect for you.

Unlike our other sand and cement floor screeds, this one is suitable for heavy-duty applications. It can be applied to a concrete floor or surface to provide a smooth, bump-free finish whilst also improving the aesthetics and strengthening its life.

Mixed with additives, this sand and cement floor screed offers a long-lasting solution when used as a topping over lightweight screeds – protecting the subfloor from the impact of constant use and heavy footfall.

To find out more about our higher strength floor screeds and whether your project could benefit, get in touch with JCW on 01204 387 029.

How long until you can walk over higher strength floor screeds?

On average, floor screed can take 24-48 hours to dry. However, our higher strength floor screeds contain special additives which help to strengthen your floors and speed up the drying process.

After applying our higher strength floor screed, your floor should be usable within 8-12 hours, but you’ll want to leave it at least 5 days before it receives heavy foot traffic. The same applies if you’re planning on placing or moving heavy furniture on your newly screeded floor.

For optimal results, it’s better to wait until the screed has completely cured (approximately 28 days). After that, you can walk over your screeded floor confidently, knowing that you won’t damage it.

How much do higher strength floor screeds cost?

The price you’ll pay for higher strength floor screed can vary depending on several factors, including the quantity and your location.

Of course, the more screed you need and the further our tipper vehicle needs to travel, the more it will cost you.

Although higher strength floor screeds tend to cost more than other types, they contain additives that make them ideal for heavy-duty applications and, effectively, speed up curing times.
